Day 1: Arrival to Iquitos | transfer to Nauta | embarkation

Upon arrival in the Amazon city of Iquitos, a dedicated crew will be waiting at the airport, ready to assist with the transfer in a comfortable private vehicle. A lunchbox will be provided to enjoy during the journey to Nauta, ensuring a pleasant start to the adventure.

Reaching the Nauta port, a warm VIP welcome awaits at a private dock along the Marañon River. As the first city founded in the Loreto region, Nauta holds historical significance and serves as the gateway to the expedition. Here, the vessel stands ready for embarkation.

Once aboard the Delfin, the professional staff will provide a warm introduction and guide the way to an elegantly designed suite. Every detail caters to comfort, featuring orthopedic beds, pure cotton sheets, 100% natural latex pillows, plush cotton bathrobes, air conditioning, and a private bathroom with a Spanish-style hot water shower. A spacious private terrace offers an inviting space to unwind and immerse in the surroundings.

As the journey begins, the Delfin’s third deck provides a breathtaking panoramic view of the Amazon landscape. A naturalist guide will lead an orientation session, outlining the itinerary, planned activities, scenic highlights, and diverse wildlife to watch for. Insights into the region’s geography and history will enhance the experience, ensuring a deeper appreciation of the natural wonders ahead.

The adventure continues with a thrilling night safari along the Marañon River. This prime location offers the chance to spot vibrant bird species and playful monkeys as the sun casts its final golden hues over the rainforest—a perfect moment for photography. As night falls, the jungle transforms, revealing a different world of nocturnal creatures. Guided by an expert, there will be opportunities to observe alligators, bats, and other fascinating species that bring the Amazon to life after dark.

Day 2: Amazon Natural Park | Yanayacu Pucate

The Amazon Natural Park offers a rare and unforgettable experience, featuring the only Canopy Walkway in the region. Suspended over 25 meters (85 feet) above the ground and extending for 500 meters (one-third of a mile), this walkway provides an unparalleled perspective of the rainforest from the treetops. With no special skills or equipment required, visitors of all abilities can explore the canopy and observe the vibrant wildlife and lush vegetation from one of the longest canopy walkways in the world. The journey also includes a visit to the “Terra Firma” forest, a unique ecosystem within the Amazon.

A meaningful encounter with Carola, a respected shaman and spiritual healer, adds a cultural and spiritual dimension to the experience. Revered by countless jungle communities, Carola embodies the role of a "White" shaman, known for healing and guiding rather than casting spells. This rare opportunity provides insight into traditional Amazonian spiritual practices and their deep-rooted significance among local people.

In the afternoon, the expedition continues through the Yanayacu and Pucate Rivers, two of the most pristine and well-protected areas of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. The journey weaves through hidden creeks and serene lagoons, offering an up-close view of the Amazon’s incredible biodiversity. Adventurers can engage directly with the river by kayaking, paddleboarding, or even fishing for the legendary piranhas.
As night falls, a guided trail walk unveils the rainforest’s nocturnal wonders, revealing a completely different ecosystem teeming with unique creatures.

Day 3: Fundo Casual | Community visit & Confluence

Nauta Caño Creek is known for squirrel and silver back tamarillo monkeys, birds, dolphins, and even sloths! You will skim the riverbanks for small caimans and spiders, as well as insects of all colors, shapes and sizes.

The walk at Fundo Casual jungle trail will take you deep into the rainforest on terra firme (non-flooded forest) where your guide will point out the dynamic creatures and vegetation of the Amazon. Be sure to keep an attentive eye open for spotting surprises! Its almost unbelieveable how with every step you find something along the way. Almost definitely Anaconda, Rainbow Boas, Tarantulas, Poison Frogs, and most recently porquepines have been spotted. This is one of the very few places in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve Amazon Rainforest where you will spot the ever so elusive 2-toed sloth.

On board the skiffs, you will visit a community to meet local villagers who have called Amazonia their home for generations. You may step into a typical schoolhouse where the children will be very happy to have visitors, and then stop by an area to see the women of this community who have a most amazing arts & craft market. Better known as the “Unión de los Ríos” toast and witness the distinguished colors of the 3 rivers. It is known that the Ucayali River, which in turn confluences with the Marañón River upstream of Iquitos, Peru, to form what countries other than Brazil consider to be the main stem of the Amazon River.

Day 4: Disembark | Manatee Center | Transfer to Iquitos

  • 1 Breakfast
After breakfast, the staff will wish you farewell as you begin your departure. At the port of Nauta, the ground crew will be waiting to take you by private vehicle back to the city of Iquitos, about 95 kilometers journey by paved road. On your way from Nauta back to Iquitos airport, you will visit the Rescue & Rehabilitation Center of River Mammals (Amazon Forever) where you will have the chance to meet baby manatees and learn about these wonderful and docile creatures and why they are on the endangered species list. As well, there are also some other animals cared for by the center that have been rescued from capture for the intention of being turned into pets and other threatening conditions. You are welcome to donate to this ambitious organization and education center as you wish. The land personnel will wait for you at the airport and give your boarding passes and help you check in.

Before going to the airport,  have an interactive activity that will allow you to learn more about melipona bees and their importance in the Amazon ecosystem.

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!
