Upon arrival in the Amazon city of Iquitos, the crew will be ready to welcome you at the airport and ensure a seamless transfer in a private, comfortable vehicle. Enjoy a delicious lunchbox as the journey to Nauta begins. Upon reaching Nauta, a historic riverside town on the Marañon River, receive a warm VIP welcome at a private port before boarding the awaiting vessel. Step aboard the luxurious Delfin, where the attentive staff will guide you to a beautifully designed suite featuring orthopedic beds, pure cotton sheets, natural latex pillows, plush bathrobes, air conditioning, and a private bathroom with a Spanish-style hot water shower. Begin your morning with an early exploration of Las Palmas, one of the most biodiverse areas in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. The early hours are ideal for witnessing the rich wildlife that thrives at sunrise. Board a skiff and cruise through towering trees and ancient palms, where vibrant parrot species flutter above. Keep an eye out for the distinctive hoatzins nesting just above the water and possibly spot a three-toed sloth resting in the canopy.
Later, visit the Amazon Natural Park and meet Carola, a highly respected spiritual healer known as a “White” shaman. Her wisdom and guidance have supported many Amazonian communities. Gain insight into traditional healing practices and the deep spiritual connection between the people and the jungle.
In the afternoon, explore the pristine waters of the Yanayacu and Pucate Rivers, home to an incredible array of wildlife. Cruise through winding creeks and hidden lagoons, and during the low-water season, step onto a natural beach that emerges only during this time of year. As night falls, embark on a thrilling skiff excursion to observe nocturnal creatures, including alligators and bats, as the jungle comes alive after dark. For a truly unforgettable experience, paddle a kayak or take a refreshing swim near the enchanting pink river dolphins.
Continue exploring this area of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. If you want to interact directly with the waters of the Amazon, jump into the kayaks. You will get a closer look at the nature that surrounds you, including the magical pink river dolphin.
On your visit to the community you will be welcomed by smiling faces and friendly people. Around the community, people who are happy to show you the process of peeling and grating cassava, while another may invite you in for a look at the tools he uses to process the rice (grown locally). A day in the life of a local ribereño is eye-opening to how far you have come in this day and age and a reflection of how simple yet rewarding life is for others.
The walk at Fundo Casual jungle trail will take you deep into the rainforest on terra firme (non-flooded forest) where your guide will point out the dynamic creatures and vegetation of the Amazon. Be sure to keep an attentive eye open for spotting surprises! Its almost unbelieveable how with every step you find something along the way. Almost definitely Anaconda, Rainbow Boas, Tarantulas, Poison Frogs, and most recently porquepines have been spotted. This is one of the very few places in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve Amazon Rainforest where you will spot the ever so elusive 2-toed sloth.
Along the Yarapa River, you will get to explore this tributary intimately. Listen closely for the sounds from within the mysterious jungle. Travel down river to this wide creek that leads to an attractive hidden lagoon. As you absorb the beauty of the landscape, have the chance to reflect on the wildlife. Hawks, terns, herons and monkeys which are part of the everyday excursions are readily close by; in this area notice many more inhabitants of the Amazon, the rivereños. People being an important part of this complex bionetwork only reinforce the fact that you are part of their lives and how your presence here and now could make a difference to the future of this magical land of the Incas. Look out for specific types of Monkeys like the pygmy marmoset, squirrel monkey, and the first Monk Saki. This medium-sized monkey with the thick fur and bushy tail looks more like he is dressed for the Arctic than the Amazon.
Confluence better known as the “Unión de los Ríos” toast and witness the distinguished colors of the 3 rivers. It is known that the Ucayali River, which in turn confluences with the Marañón River upstream of Iquitos, Peru, to form what countries other than Brazil consider to be the main stem of the Amazon River. Great photo opportunity as you witness your first Amazon Rainforest Sunset.
Day 5: Disembark | Manatee Center | Transfer to Iquitos
1 Breakfast
In the morning, the staff will wish you farewell as you begin your departure. At the port of Nauta, the ground crew will be waiting to take you by private vehicle back to the city of Iquitos, about 95 kilometers journey by paved road. On your way from Nauta back to Iquitos airport, you will visit the Rescue & Rehabilitation Center of River Mammals (Amazon Forever) where you will have the chance to meet baby manatees and learn about these wonderful and docile creatures and why they are on the endangered species list. As well, there are also some other animals cared for by the center that have been rescued from capture for the intention of being turned into pets and other threatening conditions. You are welcome to donate to this ambitious organization and education center as you wish. The land personnel will wait for you at the airport and give your boarding passes and help you check in.
Before going to the airport, have an interactive activity that will allow you to learn more about melipona bees and their importance in the Amazon ecosystem.

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!
