Day 1: Arrival to Iquitos | transfer to Nauta | embarkation

Upon arrival in the Amazon city of Iquitos, a dedicated crew will be ready to greet you at the airport and assist with a seamless transfer in a comfortable private vehicle. To ensure a pleasant start to the journey, a lunchbox will be provided as you travel toward Nauta. This small riverside town, situated on the banks of the Marañon River, holds historical significance as the first city founded in the Loreto region. Upon arrival at the Nauta port, a VIP welcome awaits at a private dock, where the vessel stands ready for embarkation.

Once aboard the Delfin, the professional staff will guide you to a beautifully designed suite, offering ultimate comfort with orthopedic beds, pure cotton sheets, natural latex pillows, plush bathrobes, air conditioning, and a private bathroom with a Spanish-style hot water shower. A spacious private terrace provides an inviting space to relax and immerse in the breathtaking surroundings.

As the journey begins, the Delfin’s third deck offers a panoramic view of the lush Amazon landscape. A naturalist guide will lead an orientation session, outlining the itinerary, activities, scenic highlights, and diverse wildlife to watch for. Gain insight into the region’s geography and history, enhancing appreciation for the wonders ahead.

The adventure continues along the Marañon River, an ideal location to observe vibrant bird species and playful monkeys. The golden hues of the setting sun reflect beautifully on the water, creating a perfect backdrop for photography. As night falls, experience the rainforest’s transformation, revealing a hidden world of nocturnal creatures.

Day 2: Las Palmas / Amazon Natural Park | Yanayacu Pucate

Start your day early with a visit to Las Palmas, one of the most biodiverse regions of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. The tropical rainforest comes alive at dawn, making it the best time to observe wildlife in its most active state. Board a skiff and explore this lush area, home to towering trees and ancient palms that attract a variety of parrot species. Listen to the morning calls of exotic birds, watch the fascinating displays of the hoatzins nesting above the water, and keep an eye out for the elusive three-toed sloths resting among the branches.

Continue your adventure at the Amazon Natural Park, where you will meet Carola, a highly respected shaman and spiritual healer. Known as a "White" shaman, Carola is deeply trusted by jungle communities for her healing abilities and guidance. Gain insight into Amazonian traditions and the spiritual practices that have shaped the lives of the region’s inhabitants for centuries.

In the afternoon, navigate the pristine waters of the Yanayacu and Pucate Rivers, two of the most protected areas within the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Cruise through hidden creeks and lagoons as your guide points out the remarkable biodiversity of the region. Depending on the season, a natural beach may emerge, offering a unique setting to admire the beauty of the rainforest.

As night falls, embark on an exhilarating skiff ride through Pucate. The jungle transforms under the cover of darkness, revealing nocturnal creatures like caimans, bats, and other fascinating species. Experience the Amazon in a whole new way as you explore its hidden wonders after sunset.

Day 3: Fundo Casual | Confluence

The walk at Fundo Casual jungle trail will take you deep into the rainforest on terra firme (non-flooded forest) where your guide will point out the dynamic creatures and vegetation of the Amazon. Be sure to keep an attentive eye open for spotting surprises! Its almost unbelieveable how with every step you find something along the way. Almost definitely Anaconda, Rainbow Boas, Tarantulas, Poison Frogs, and most recently porquepines have been spotted. This is one of the very few places in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve Amazon Rainforest where you will spot the ever so elusive 2-toed sloth.

On your visit to this community you will be welcomed by smiling faces and friendly people. Around the community, people who are happy to show you the process of peeling and grating cassava, while another may invite you in for a look at the tools he uses to process the rice (grown locally). A day in the life of a local ribereño is eye-opening to how far you have come in this day and age and a reflection of how simple yet rewarding life is for others.

Better known as the “Unión de los Ríos” toast and witness the distinguished colors of the 3 rivers. It is known that the Ucayali River, which in turn confluences with the Marañón River upstream of Iquitos, Peru, to form what countries other than Brazil consider to be the main stem of the Amazon River. Great photo opportunity as you witness your first Amazon Rainforest Sunset.

Day 4: Disembark | Manatee Center | Transfer to Iquitos

  • 1 Breakfast
After breakfast, the staff will wish you farewell as you begin your departure. At the port of Nauta, the ground crew will be waiting to take you by private vehicle back to the city of Iquitos, about 95 kilometers journey by paved road. On your way from Nauta back to Iquitos airport, you will visit the Rescue & Rehabilitation Center of River Mammals (Amazon Forever) where you will have the chance to meet baby manatees and learn about these wonderful and docile creatures and why they are on the endangered species list. As well, there are also some other animals cared for by the center that have been rescued from capture for the intention of being turned into pets and other threatening conditions. You are welcome to donate to this ambitious organization and education center as you wish. The land personnel will wait for you at the airport and give your boarding passes and help you check in.

Before going to the airport,  have an interactive activity that will allow you to learn more about melipona bees and their importance in the Amazon ecosystem.
