Day 1: Iquitos | Embark | Amazon River

Upon arrival at the airport, a team will greet and welcome you to the city of Iquitos. Transfer by bus to the Embarcadero Turistico port of embarkation , where a skiff is waiting to ferry you to the Crucero Amazonas, your home for the next four nights.

Once on board, go up to the third deck for the captain’s welcome and crew introduction while enjoying the refreshing cocktails. Before comfortably settling into your rooms, the guides will explain the safety procedures and give you a brief orientation tour of the facilities.

It is time to start a culinary experience to remember. The onboard chef will be ready to pamper your palate with an exciting menu, using what the Amazon pantry decides to offer in season. In the afternoon, set off on your first boat excursion to meet the guardians of the Amazon rainforest, visiting the Kukama Native Community. Enjoy live music and dancing and learn about their most ancient customs.

Return on board for a well-deserved rest and enjoy a special evening prepared by the bartender. To surprise your friends and family back home, don't miss this evening's bartending lessons. Enjoy learning about the history and distillation techniques of the country’s signature drink, Pisco. Mix and taste a variety of traditional Pisco Sour cocktails, each made with local exotic fruits. The day's events will conclude with a delicious dinner.

Day 2: Amazon River | Monkey Island | Yagua Native Community

After a hearty buffet-style breakfast, the boat will transport you to the Monkey Island Rescue Center. This sanctuary cares for a diverse array of monkeys that were once hunted for meat or sold as pets. Despite their past abuse and involvement in wildlife trafficking, these animals now thrive on the island, often approaching visitors unexpectedly. As you interact with them, you might find a curious spider monkey or a red-faced Uakari reaching out for your hand. Along with photographing these primates, you'll have the opportunity to learn about their rescue, rehabilitation, and eventual release back into the wild.

Return to the ship and savor the delightful dishes prepared by the chef. In the afternoon, visit the Yagua native community, where the local chief will share the story of how their ancestors chose to settle near the impressive Lupuna tree, believed to protect the forest. Enjoy the chance to test your aim with the Pucuna, a traditional blowgun still used by the locals for hunting. Before departing, participate in a unique ceremony by planting a tree in the heart of the Amazon. Contribute to our reforestation efforts and leave a lasting positive mark on the rainforest.

Back on the cruise ship, the chef will lead a very entertaining cooking class. The local shaman will visit after dinner and share some of his spiritual practices and traditional medicine made from medicinal plants.

Day 3: Francisco de Orellana Community

Enjoy a delicious breakfast on board as you navigate along the Napo River toward the historic town of Orellana. Named after Francisco de Orellana, the Spanish conquistador who explored the confluence of the Coca and Napo Rivers during his sixteenth-century Amazon expeditions, this town is steeped in history. Gather in the charming town square and listen to your guide’s captivating stories about the Amazonian warrior women and Orellana’s legendary ghost ship. After departing the village, embark the skiff and en head to a quiet spot on the river for a relaxing morning of fishing.

Return aboard to enjoy a delicious lunch. This afternoon, you are welcome to spend some leisure time on board. You can rest in your rooms or enjoy the facilities and services on board. Clear your mind with a rejuvenating massage, relax by the outdoor jacuzzi, or enjoy the breathtaking scenery on the fourth deck.

Watch out for happy hour! This evening before dinner, the bartender will be waiting to serve you everything from freshly squeezed fruit juices, wines, spirits, and ice-cold beer to the most exotic jungle-inspired cocktails.

Day 4: Indiana | Morphosapi Butterfly Sanctuary

Start your day early to witness the stunning sunrise over the Amazon River, with the morning sky illuminated in brilliant shades of red, orange, purple, and subtle pink hues. Next, embark on a small excursion to Indiana, a charming village known for its vibrant display of rainforest products, including fruits, vegetables, fish, and spices, alongside local people engaged in their daily shopping. Return to the Amazon for a delicious breakfast on board, providing the energy needed for the day ahead.

Next up is a visit to the Morphosapi Butterfly Sanctuary in San Rafael village. This sanctuary is fully owned and operated by the San Rafael community, focusing on environmental education and the conservation of sixteen butterfly species. Discover their reproductive cycles and marvel at their striking colors and unique shapes. To conclude your visit, release some butterflies into the wild, where they will contribute to pollinating flowers.

Enjoy a delicious lunch on board as you travel towards the Nanay River. After some free time for rest and relaxation, embark on a boat trip to experience the sunset colors over the Momon River. As night falls, listen to the sounds of the jungle after dark. To end the evening, join a memorable farewell cocktail on the third deck after dinner.

Day 5: Iquitos | Disembark | Return Home

  • 1 Breakfast
Your final breakfast on board will be a little earlier so that you have plenty of time to pack up and check out. Disembark at the Embarcadero Turistico, where the bus will be waiting to take you to your last stop before saying goodbye. Make one last memory at the Manatee Rescue Center, a very special kind of animal orphanage for Amazonian manatees. This is where aquatic mammals and other endangered wildlife are rescued, rehabilitated, and finally released into the wild.

After visiting the rescue center, the bus will take you to the airport, where the staff will be on hand to offer extra help if needed.

Note: The itineraries and programs may vary depending on the climate, water level of the river, or migratory cycle of the animals. Therefore, the navigation route, schedules, and excursions may need to be modified at the guide’s or cruise captain’s discretion. The visit to the native communities is an excellent way to contribute to their development since the villagers have the opportunity to sell their one-of-a-kind handicrafts. There is no commitment, but if you are planning on buying a gift or souvenir, please bring some cash with you.
