Day 1: Arrive to Iquitos | Transfer to Nauta | Embarkation

Upon arrival in the Amazonian city of Iquitos, a dedicated crew will greet you at the airport and ensure a smooth transfer to a private vehicle. As the journey to Nauta begins, enjoy a delicious lunchbox while taking in the lush scenery along the way. Arriving in Nauta, a historic riverside town on the Marañon River, you will receive a VIP welcome at a private port where your luxurious vessel awaits. Step aboard the Delfin, where the attentive staff will guide you to your elegantly designed suite, complete with orthopedic beds, pure cotton sheets, natural latex pillows, air conditioning, and a private bathroom with a Spanish-style hot water shower. A spacious private terrace provides stunning river views, ensuring a relaxing and immersive experience. As the Delfin sets sail, head to the observation deck to enjoy panoramic views while sipping a refreshing cocktail made from regional fruits and Peru’s signature pisco. Your naturalist guide will then provide an insightful orientation, outlining your journey’s schedule, activities, and the incredible wildlife and vegetation to watch for. As you cruise along the Marañón River, explore a picturesque location ideal for spotting playful monkeys and vibrant bird species. Your guide will point out various creatures, while the breathtaking colors of the setting sun reflect off the water, creating the perfect backdrop for unforgettable photos. Witness the beauty of your first Amazon Rainforest sunset, marking the beginning of an extraordinary adventure into one of the world’s most biodiverse regions.

Day 2: Amazon Natural Park | Yanayacu Pucate

Explore the Amazon Natural Park and meet Carola, a highly respected spiritual caretaker and healer who has guided countless jungle dwellers across remote areas. Unlike common misconceptions about shamans, Carola is known as a "White" shaman, dedicated to healing and spiritual guidance. Gain a rare insight into Amazonian traditions as she shares her wisdom and deep connection to nature.

In the afternoon, cruise along the pristine Yanayacu and Pucate Rivers, part of the protected Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Navigate through secluded creeks and lagoons, where your expert guide will point out the incredible biodiversity surrounding you. For a more immersive experience, paddle through the calm waters on a kayak or stand-up paddleboard. Keep an eye out for the Amazon’s legendary pink river dolphins, a truly unforgettable sight in one of the most untouched regions of the rainforest.

Day 3: Fundo Casual | Nauta Caño

The walk at Fundo Casual jungle trail will take you deep into the rainforest on terra firme (non-flooded forest) where your guide will point out the dynamic creatures and vegetation of the Amazon. Be sure to keep an attentive eye open for spotting surprises! Its almost unbelieveable how with every step you find something along the way. Almost definitely Anaconda, Rainbow Boas, Tarantulas, Poison Frogs, and most recently porquepines have been spotted. This is one of the very few places in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve Amazon Rainforest where you will spot the ever so elusive 2-toed sloth.

On your adventure day in Nauta Caño, begin with a skiff exploration, navigating the tranquil waters of the river to observe the area's rich biodiversity. After a delicious lunch on board, embark on an exciting kayaking session, exploring hidden channels and lagoons in search of wildlife. At sunset, continue your quest for animals while enjoying the spectacular Amazonian landscape. As night falls, venture into the jungle for an exhilarating night safari, equipped with flashlights and guided by experts, in search of nocturnal creatures like caimans, frogs, and insects.

Day 4: Community visit | Yarapa River

Better known as the “Unión de los Ríos” toast and witness the distinguished colors of the 3 rivers. It is known that the Ucayali River, which in turn confluences with the Marañón River upstream of Iquitos, Peru, to form what countries other than Brazil consider to be the main stem of the Amazon River. Great photo opportunity as you witness your first Amazon Rainforest Sunset.

On your visit to this community be welcomed by smiling faces and friendly people. Around the community, people who are happy to show you the process of peeling and grating cassava, while another may invite you in for a look at the tools he uses to process the rice (grown locally). A day in the life of a local ribereño is eye-opening to how far you have come in this day and age and a reflection of how simple yet rewarding life is for others.

Along the Yarapa River, you will get to explore this tributary intimately. Listen closely for the sounds from within the mysterious jungle. Travel down river to this wide creek that leads to an attractive hidden lagoon. As you absorb the beauty of the landscape, have the chance to reflect on the wildlife. Hawks, terns, herons and monkeys which are part of your everyday excursions are readily close by; in this area notice many more inhabitants of the Amazon, the rivereños. People being an important part of this complex bionetwork only reinforce the fact that you are part of their lives and how the presence here and now could make a difference to the future of this magical land of the Incas. Look out for specific types of Monkeys like the pygmy marmoset, squirrel monkey, and the first Monk Saki. This medium-sized monkey with the thick fur and bushy tail looks more like he is dressed for the Arctic than the Amazon.

Day 5: Disembarkation | Manatee Center | Transfer to Iquitos

  • 1 Breakfast
After breakfast, the staff will wish you farewell as you begin your departure. At the port of Nauta, the ground crew will be waiting to take you by private vehicle back to the city of Iquitos, about 95 kilometers journey by paved road. On your way from Nauta back to Iquitos airport, you will visit the Rescue & Rehabilitation Center of River Mammals (Amazon Forever) where you will have the chance to meet baby manatees and learn about these wonderful and docile creatures and why they are on the endangered species list. As well, there are also some other animals cared for by the center that have been rescued from capture for the intention of being turned into pets and other threatening conditions. You are welcome to donate to this ambitious organization and education center as you wish. The land personnel will wait for you at the airport and give your boarding passes and help you check in.

At Crnl. FAP Francisco Secada Vignetta International Airport in Iquitos, the staff will assist with luggage and check-in procedures, ensuring a seamless departure. The return flight will take travelers directly to Lima, Peru’s vibrant capital. At the security gate, the guide and Delfin crew will offer their final goodbyes, leaving cherished memories of an unforgettable Amazon adventure.

The trip might have been the absolute best of our lifetime (thus far). We particularly want to commend our guide Peter in the Guilin area-he was so incredibly attentive, energetic, enthusiastic-and absolutely dedicated to ensuring that our meals were 100% vegetarian.
