Embark on this 8-day experience showcasing the mighty Amazon River’s treasures. Navigate deep into the Pacaya Samiria Reserve for a real and safe adventure, in the hands of your expert naturalist guides, to spot the wonderful creatures of the Amazon. Your journey includes jungle walks, fishing, birdwatching, exploring the Yacapana Islands, dolphin sightings, visits to local villages, the “Mirrored Forest”, wildlife safaris by night, and a visit to the Manatee Rescue Center.

Day 1: Iquitos | Nauta | Embark | Marañon River | Nauta Caño

Arrive at the airport for a private transfer to Nauta Port, where you will board the vessel. Enjoy a box lunch during the drive. Staff will escort you to your suite, equipped with comfortable beds, Peruvian pima cotton sheets, cotton bathrobes, air conditioning, a private bathroom with shower, and amenities. Before departure, sip a regional fruit cocktail with Peruvian pisco on the observation deck or in the lounge for panoramic river views.

Once underway, naturalist guides introduce the trip, highlighting planned activities, routes, wildlife, vegetation, geography, and historical background. Guides are available to answer any questions.

After the welcome briefing, enjoy appetizers and take time to rest before heading out on skiffs to Nauta Caño for a nighttime outing, where you’ll search for alligators, tarantulas, frogs, and other nocturnal species. Return to the boat for a Peruvian dinner with Amazonian flavors. The menu includes vegetarian options; please inform staff of any dietary needs in advance.

Day 2: Marañón River | Yanayacu de Pucate | San Regis

In the early morning, head to the third deck of the ship to observe migratory birds in transit.

Next, embark on a boat ride to the Yanayacu de Pucate area, one of the best-preserved sections of the Pacaya Samiria Reserve, where you’ll enjoy breakfast in the heart of nature. Before returning to the ship, take an optional kayak ride or swim in the refreshing black river waters.

Back on board, join a Peruvian cocktail demonstration by the bartender, followed by lunch. Afterward, relax as the guides discuss Amazonian philosophy.
In the afternoon, visit the San Regis native community to learn about their traditions and way of life. A local shaman will share insights into ancestral practices, with guides available to interpret and answer questions about spiritual beliefs and healing.

Afterward, participate in a tree planting ceremony as a positive environmental contribution. You’ll also have the chance to visit a small craft market where local women display handmade goods. Return to the ship for time to relax with live music before dinner.

Day 3: Marañon River | Amazonian Natural Park | Nahuapa River

After breakfast you will start a walk through the jungle, followed by a canopy walk, which will allow you to admire the richness of the jungle from the top of the trees. At noon, you will return to the ship for lunch on board, after which you will have time to rest. It is important that you are present at the talk about the animals in the area that are in danger of extinction.

In the afternoon, you will begin your exploration by boat on the Nahuapa River. There you will experience fishing for the famous piranhas, using local equipment and techniques. Before returning to Zafiro cruise, you will make a night excursion in search of alligators, tarantulas, frogs, and other nocturnal species. Return to Zafiro, live music, and dinner.

Day 4: Marañon River | Casual | Amazon River

After breakfast, you will start a walk in Casual, in search of wildlife, such as poisonous frogs and other exotic species. In this area, you will see the well-known giant trees called Avatar and the "Victoria Amazonica" also known as Victoria Regia or water lilies, the largest aquatic plant on the planet. There you will also have the opportunity to purchase local handicrafts made by local women artisans. Before noon you will return to the ship where there will be a cooking demonstration by the executive chef.

After lunch, do not miss the talk about the origin of the Amazon, and then start an excursion to the confluence of the Ucayali and Marañón rivers, the place where these two rivers join, also known as the origin of the Amazon River. This area is very popular for watching the curious pink river dolphins. Return to the ship and have some free time until dinner.

Day 5: Marañon River | Nauta | Florida Common Reserve | Pahuachiro

Before breakfast, visit Nauta, the second most important city in the region. Upon arrival, you will take a motorcar tour to the local market where you will learn first-hand what the commercial life of the city is like. Return to Zafiro for breakfast. After breakfast, be ready to start a new excursion, you will take a walk in the Florida common reserve, in search of wildlife such as frogs, birds, and other exotic species. In this area, you will see the well-known select trees called mahogany.

At noon, they will offer lunch and then you will have time to rest and restore some energy for the activity of the afternoon, a boat excursion to explore the Pahuachiro area and its wildlife. Back at Zafiro, enjoy the wonderful light and the incomparable colors that unfold in the sky of these latitudes during sunset. Dinner on board.

Day 6: Amazon River | San Joaquin de Omaguas | Yarapa River | Ucayali River

At dawn, before breakfast, you will go out by boat to explore the Amazon River, where you will observe the daily activities that each community carries out on the banks of the river. Back on the ship, you can enjoy your buffet breakfast, which offers a daily selection of traditional dishes, Peruvian specialties, freshly baked homemade products, and a variety of freshly prepared juices. After breakfast, you will start a boat excursion to explore the Yarapa black water river in search of wildlife. Return to the cruise and enjoy lunch on board. Before the activity in the afternoon, the guides will give a talk about the local culture.

In the afternoon, you will visit the community of Paranapura, where you will appreciate how they live and learn about their customs, always accompanied by your guides, who will act as interpreters for you. Towards sunset, you will go in search of animals that can only be seen when the sun goes down: alligators, bats, frogs, tarantulas, and other species that populate your biodiverse jungle. Before dinner, you can enjoy live music by the band on board, which will play a varied repertoire of Amazonian, national, and international music.

Day 7: Yarapa of Ucayali (Black Waters) | Yucuruchi | Amazon River (Origin)

Before breakfast, you will start an excursion by boat, but this time on the Yarapa River, in search of new imposing landscapes and more emblematic species of the Amazon. Return to Zafiro for breakfast. After breakfast, you will start a walk in Yucuruchi, the area of the Ucayali River, located in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, where numerous species of native animals will be sighted. Return to the ship.

At noon they will offer lunch and then you will have time to rest before the afternoon outing, a boat trip on the Amazon River, in search of the curious pink dolphins and other species. Before returning to the ship, appreciate the breathtaking colors of the Amazonian sunset. Back on the ship, you will have time to rest and relax with live music while you make time before the presentation of the crew and farewell dinner.

Day 8: Disembark in Nauta Port | Transfer to the airport

After breakfast, you will proceed to disembark. On your way to the airport, visit Amazon Forever Bio Park, also known as Manatees Rescue Center, where biologists and volunteers care for manatees, an endangered species. Learn how manatees are treated and prepared for their return to their natural habitat. Likewise, other animals are also rescued, treated, and reinserted into their natural habitat. Jungle Experiences actively collaborates with this dedicated organization and think tank. They invite you to do so as well and help this meaningful cause. Transfer to the airport.
