Paradise Lodge makes a great jumping off point for touring this part of southern Ethiopia. Explore the Great Rift Valley and the renowned Nechisar National Park. Explore her green grasslands and thick forest and bushland with abundant wildlife, all part of why it has received the notoriety of being East Africa’s hidden gem. Guests easily spot gazelle, zebra, and baboon. Spot some of the endemic bird species found here as well, including the kingfisher, stork, pelican, flamingo, and fish eagle.
Visit the Forty Springs, the fresh pure water in the forest rumored to hold healing properties. Spot crocodiles in the area. Visit Crocodile Ranch, where the feedings on Mondays and Thursdays is quite a sight, or visit the ‘crocodile market’ on Lake Chamo, a popular spot for spotting hippos, fish and birds. Enjoy a two hour trek on “God’s Bridge”, the isthmus that separates Lake Chamo and Abaya. Enjoy incredible views across both lakes. This was our first trip to South America and we were a little nervous. But Adventure Life made things so easy! All our questions were answered before we left, and our guide, Vidal, was amazing! He gave us enough space to explore without rushing us along. He also knew where the best picture taking opportunities were, which was great.
