Start Planning My Trip
Visit Tierra del Fuego, Argentina's first coastal national park. Hiking and canoeing are part of the experience. Begin with a three-and-a-half-hour trek through a variety of deciduous and evergreen forests, as well as winter bark, fire brush, and more. Take a canoe ride to remote beaches and breathtaking locations after your hike. One of the park's most stunning and panoramic spots is Laguna Verde, surrounded by crystal-clear water in a pristine setting. Admire Lapataia Bay, where petrels, albatross, steamer ducks, and, on occasion, penguins, can be seen. Return to Ushuaia in the afternoon.

Day 1: Trek and Paddle Tierra del Fuego National Park

  • 1 Lunch
Just north of Ushuaia is the Parque Nacional Tierra del Fuego, Argentina's first coastal national park. This adventure combines hiking and paddling within the park. First, a 3 ½ hour hike takes you through forests of both high and low deciduous beech, evergreen beech, winterbark, firebrush, and more. After your hike, climb into inflatable canoes and sail to uninhabited beaches and majestic places, just as the ancient Yamana tribe used to do thousands of years ago. The Yamana used canoes carved from tree bark to explore this same area. The crystal-clear water runs into Laguna Verde, one of the most picturesque, panoramic spots in the park. Your take-out point is Lapataia Bay, where you may see petrels, albatross, steamer ducks, and on occasion, penguins. Return to Ushuaia in the late afternoon.
