The Atta Rainforest Lodge is situated approximately 500 meters from the Iwokrama Canopy Walkway. The lodge is completely surrounded by tropical rainforest which offers a complete immersion in the rainforest experience. The main building is open sided with views across the gardens to the towering forest on all sides. This building houses the bar, dining area and kitchen.

Dining and Refreshment
The Parrot-A-Fly Bar stocks local and imported beer, spirits and wines which can be enjoyed by the bar or in the shade of the gardens. The bar top is made from a huge slab of Wamaradan (Dicorynia guianensis), and it is believed this is the first commercial use of this wood in Guyana. The dining area is adjacent to the bar and encourages communal dining so that you can get to know your fellow adventurers.

Meals are freshly prepared local delicacies of free range beef, chicken and fish. With sufficient notice, the on site cooks are happy to cater to vegetarian and other special diets. Guyanese cuisine may vary from what you are used to at home, so feel free to pop in the kitchen and see what and how they are preparing the meals!

Guest Accommodation
The two accommodation buildings were once open sided shelters intended to hang hammocks in the open breeze. The past few years have been spent enclosing the buildings and adding attached bathrooms to the eight rooms to create a more comfortable space for guests. Sleeping in a hammock is still an option, and is certainly a fun and comfortable way to spend the night. But no one leaves Atta without commenting on the private, roofless showers that afford you a stunning view of the treetops while you bathe. Besides the shower each roomy bathroom is fitted with a flush toilet and wash basin.

Activities
Visits to the Canopy Walkway are easily scheduled during your stay at Atta Rainforest Camp. You'll want at least one stop at the Canopy platforms before dawn so that you can welcome the dawn chorus from the canopy. Then you'll want to return again as the afternoon cools you can experience night falling and the canopy after dark. Additional visits are available outside these scheduled trips according your schedule. All visitors to the walkway are accompanied by Canopy Walkway specialists.

Apart from the Iwokrama Canopy Walkway itself you can enjoy wildlife and birdwatching walks on the trails around the area. For those interested in botany many of the trails have the key trees species marked. Many bird species, stunning insects, noisy amphibians, and playful primates make the surrounding forest their home and you cab be fairly certain to spot some extraordinary wildlife without even trying too hard. Night walks are the guides' favorite, as something interesting or new always seems to pop on to the scene. Veteran guide Leon Moore really made 2012 special for dozens of guests who were able to spot numerous jaguars (panthera onca) along the transnational road near the lodge.

Excursions further a field can be arranged with notice: the Iwokrama River Lodge, Rock View Lodge, and Surama EcoLodge are all within an hour or two of the lodge's location as is a fabulous Guianian Cock-of-the-rock lek.

The trip might have been the absolute best of our lifetime (thus far). We particularly want to commend our guide Peter in the Guilin area-he was so incredibly attentive, energetic, enthusiastic-and absolutely dedicated to ensuring that our meals were 100% vegetarian.
