Start your day with an early breakfast and then head off to Nanyuki. This small equatorial town is a popular thoroughfare for hikers climbing Mount Kenya via the Burguret or Sirimon routes and has a few great restaurants, including Barney’s, known for its fine cuisine, and the Trout Tree, housed inside the trunk of an enormous tree and serving several variations of this freshwater fish. With its strategic location, the town provides stunning views of the mountain. Additionally, the surrounding area is home to numerous reserves, including Mount Kenya National Park, Samburu National Reserve, Sweetwaters Game Reserve, Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, and Shaba National Reserve.
Upon arrival, enjoy lunch at The Trout Tree Restaurant, situated around an immense Sacred Fig tree on the banks of the Burguret River, sourced from the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya. The restaurant's surroundings feature cascading icy water and trout-filled pools.
After lunch, continue to the Mount Kenya Safari Club for a tour of the Animal Orphanage. After the tour, it's off to Soames Hotel & Jack's Bar, where you'll check in, freshen up, and prepare for dinner.
On the next day after breakfast, set out with picnic lunch boxes in hand and drive to Ol Pejeta Conservancy for an exciting day of activities. Your itinerary includes thrilling game drives, a visit to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, and an educational stop at the center, where you'll have the unique opportunity to feed 'Baraka,' the gentle blind black rhino.
The conservancy boasts Kenya's largest population of Black Rhinos, along with significant numbers of elephants, cheetahs, lions, leopards, and abundant plains game. It's also a habitat for rare Northern species like Grevy’s Zebra, Jacksons Hartebeest, and Beisa Oryx.
Later in the afternoon, venture on a captivating lion-tracking experience. At 3:30 pm, a Shared Conservancy vehicle pick you up for the tracking adventure, concluding around 5:30 pm. Throughout the tracking, you must remain in the vehicle for safety. Complimentary drinking water, lion ID sheets, and pens are provided, and it's recommended to bring cameras and binoculars for optimal viewing.
After the tour, return to Soames Hotel to freshen up before enjoying a delicious dinner.
