The space-age design of the ‘Sky Pods’ makes them look like they’ve been beamed down from Mars. Futuristic and luxurious, the six bedrooms are created from composite materials, with floor-to-ceiling windows allowing guests to soak in the moon-like landscape beyond.
Antarctica provides an alluring backdrop for White Desert’s newest camp, Echo. Inspired by astronauts and the seminal age of Space exploration, Echo offers exclusive access to the rarely seen interior of the continent. It is a 5-hour flight from Cape Town, which brings guests into the endless daylight of the Antarctic Circle.
Echo allows guests to combine an ultra-luxury experience with a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. An experienced team of chefs, hosts, and expert guides lets guests relax or explore at their own pace. Every trip is bespoke, with a wide variety of activities and highlights, such as visiting the nearby 28,000-strong Emperor Penguin colony or a bucket-list journey to the South Pole.
Amenities - Echo has six heated bedroom ‘sky pods’ with en-suite facilities; A spacious communal pod with lounge and dining areas; two guest shower pods; Fully qualified doctor in camp; and 2-3 expertly qualified UIAGM high mountain guides (depending on group size)
Accommodation - This stylish, modern eco-camp features a central lounge and dining area. The space-age design of the ‘Sky Pods’ makes them look like they’ve been beamed down from Mars. Futuristic details feature across the domed sky pod, emulating space station interiors. Each heated pod features floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing guests to soak in the views of the otherworldly moonscapes beyond. Crafted from composite fiberglass, each of the ‘sky pods‘ will be designed for two guests, with interiors featuring retro space-age detailing and luxurious furnishings.
Meals - Echo offers a fine dining experience with a world-class culinary team that has designed elegant full-day menus that can cater to any dietary needs (with advanced notice). Bread is freshly baked, and coffee is freshly ground to accompany made-to-order breakfasts. Evening meals are three-course occasions, created using only the finest South African produce and paired with award-winning wines from the Cape Winelands.
Activities - Echo offers more variety for the intrepid adventurer. It has numerous activities and opportunities for exploration amongst the nearby mountain peaks. The camp is well suited for exclusive hire and families and groups

A variety of group excursions available, and plenty of activities you can do on your own around camp. You can be as active or relaxed as you like while at the Camp.
Mountain Hiking - The summits of the seven nearby nunatak mountains can be reached on foot by a variety of routes ranging from gentle to challenging, but they all offer spectacular views.
Ice Climbing - With the help of ice axe and crampons, guests will scale walls of ice carved out of the glacier surrounding the Henriksen Nunatak mountains.
Skiing - A chance to explore on cross-country skis and discover real solitude.
Fatbikes - There is no better place to ride fat-bikes than on an Antarctic glacier!
Champagne Picnics - Refuel on the top of a rugged peak with views to every horizon, the perfect opportunity to sip on a cocktail with 10,000-year-old ice.
Abseiling - Prepare for a real adventure as our former world champion climbers teach you how to safely scale the stunning red granite walls that encircle our camp.
