General Comments About Adventure Life

Carol Slatin (Machu Picchu by Train, Jul 2008)
Everyone at Adv. Life was responsive. Information sent was good.

Transportation was very well organized, we were met on time and by very friendly and accommodating people.

Our guide in Peru, Teddy Ramos was beyond excellent. He is incredibly knowledgeable and was flexible in planning activities. We had a fabulous time in Peru.

Had a wonderful time. Peru part was awesome and I could see returning, especially if Teddy Ramos could be our guide.

I expected an adventure and got one! I had never been to South America and although there were a lot of other tourists we were also often at places where we were the only ones there. It was really great. I took lots of photos that will serve to spark memories for many years, I'm sure. I would most definitely recommend Adventure Life to friends and if the occasion arises I would use Adventure Life's help in planning another trip.

Katie Hall (Machu Picchu by Train, Jul 2008)
Mary and Reilly were very helpful in accommodating our indecisiveness! they gladly changed tours and flights for us. Thanks!!!

Great accommodations overall in excellent locations with good quality rooms.

I had a wonderful time. The tour was a great cultural and historical introduction to Inca architecture and beliefs. I really enjoyed visiting all of the archaeological complexes leading up to Machu Picchu- the pinnacle example of Inca buildings.

John Keller (Machu Picchu by Train and Amazon Explorer, Jul 2008)
This was a trip of a lifetime. In two weeks, I took 1,939 pictures (no kidding!), climbed a mountain, hiked for miles, slept in the jungle, and even ate termites and guinea pig. I can't wait for my next trip with your company.

Bob Young (Inca Pathways, Jul 2008)
The trip was everything I expected and more! All transfers handled without a hitch. Felt I was well cared for throughout the trip. Saw more Inca ruins than expected and was amazed by the guides' knowledge.

Ceri Collins (Machu Picchu Pilgrimage, Jul 2008)
Our tour guide, Ayul, was fantastic. He was extremely knowledgeable and really gave us a lot of insight about the history and culture of Peru. He also had a great sense of humor and at times really kept us guessing. He set a good pace on the trail and watched us carefully to make sure that we were okay. He was fantastic. We felt privileged to have him as our guide.

All of the food was excellent. We were really surprised how good it was on the trail. However, we felt there was too much food...especially around lunch time. Sometimes it was hard to get going again.

Faith Perry (Ancient Kingdoms Custom Trip with Colca Canyon, Arequipa, and Amazon Extensions, Jul 2008)
All questions were quickly answered whenever we called you. And when our flight from Boston was cancelled, you responded quickly with necessary changes.

In each case, our guides or transport met us at the airport when expected, and made sure that we arrived at the airport with time to spare.

Peru is an incredibly diverse and fascinating place. Our guides love Peru. We learned an incredible amount about the geography, biology, history, agriculture, industry, etc.

Jonathan Wilson (Manco Multisport, Jul 2008)
I can't imagine doing the first part of the trip with anyone besides our guide, Boris Bennett. He was excellent.

I try not to go into these things with a lot of defined expectations, but the trip certainly exceeded any I may have set. Really enjoyed the adventure and was very surprised at the level of physical activity. That was our only concern going in, that it might be too easy, but that certainly was not the case and that was half the fun. The views are always a little better after a hard climb to the top (or bottom in the case of the mountain biking).

Overall everything was great. Especially liked the flexibility of our trip. We were able to change things as we went along that allowed us to fit in, or omit, portions of the trip on the fly. In the Colca Canyon, we were able to fit in an impromptu mountain bike trip from Patapampa to Chivay on trails that were extremely fun and challenging. Our guide helped us set all of it up.

Beth Sullebarger (Machu Picchu by Train, Jun 2008)
Our trip to Peru was the most wonderful we have ever taken. The Andes are astonishing! We saw many Inca ruins, amazing mountains, engaging people, public markets, beautiful valleys, and exotic animals, and to top it all off—Machu Picchu on the winter solstice. Dave and I are very grateful to our personal guide, Edwin Vasquez Salas, who shared countless compelling scenes, experiences and ideas. He took excellent care of us and provided enlightening insight into everything we saw.

The trip was extremely well-organized, so that each experience built on the previous one. Each day the sights got more and more dramatic, and our accommodations got better and better, so that by the time we reached Machu Picchu we were ready for our “peak” experience. As we lined up to catch the bus up the mountain before dawn, we were treated to a tableau with full moon and glowing Venus framed in the sky by the dark silhouettes of soaring peaks. Watching the sun come up over the mountain and hit the sun dial was an unforgettable moment.

Our guide was indispensable; he performed above and beyond his regular duties on several occasions. After I ruined my camera by dropping it in a salt flat, he took many photos on his cellphone/camera and emailed them to us at the end of the trip. When my credit card was “eaten” by an ATM as a security guard was closing the door to ... Read All

Doug and Laura Read (Inca Pathways, Jun 2008)
Our guide, Teddy, contributed hugely to our enjoyment of the trip. He was fun, knowledgeable, responsible, thoughtful. He fit perfectly with us as a traveling companion, and gave us many laughs along the way. Also, his enthusiasm about architecture, history, birds and flowers is wonderful.

Also, the trek was comfortable, and presented many pleasurable surprises, from the hot water at the end of the day's trek, to the warm appetizers, to the excellent food, and the friendly personalities of the porters.

This trip exceeded my expectations. I am impressed with the care given to every detail of the trip, from staff friendliness at hotels, to hotel locations, to travel arrangements. I was never very uncomfortable and did not get sick (other than the cold I arrived in Peru with). Our guide was an exceptional person, knowledgeable, personable and fun-loving, who set the stage for a lovely time every day.

Deborah Fong (Panoramic Peru, May 2008)
Rene Noffke was very helpful in the planning stages of our trip. She was able to accommodate our departure date and deviations from the standard tour. She was readily available by telephone and email - important since we booked our tour at the last minute.

It amazes me that the local guides are so enthusiastic - especially since they've been to all these places many, many times. The local guides were all personable and very knowledgeable. Carlos definitely went out of his way to keep us happy and healthy. Even though he did not travel from Puno to Cusco with us, he found another Adventure Life guide (Boris) assist us. Vidal (Cusco guide) was also wonderful.

Michael Jarvis (Galapagos Multisport, May 2008)
My wife handled all the pre-trip communications and was always very impressed with the courteous and prompt responses from your representatives. Your outfit was informative and easy to work with.

We enjoyed our stays on the three islands (San Cristobal, Santa Cruz, and Isabela) very much. The rooms were clean, well kept, and not on a boat! We felt our island/tour experience was much more rewarding based on land rather than boats.

I can't say enough good things about our tour leader Sebastian. I've never met a more friendly and knowledgeable person with "people skills" to boot! He made us feel like we were his first and only tour every day. His arrangements for eating out always provided us a taste of the local cuisine and were outstanding.

I had some reservations about traveling through South America at first but after experiencing this tour, I had a wonderful time and would recommend it to anyone. This tour never had a dull moment. We were always on the "go" doing something! The trip was everything advertised and more. The small group we were part of (8 people in all) fit very well together and made the whole experience that much better.

Ann Reed (Cachiccata Trek, May 2008)
Everything was perfect on the part of Adventure Life. I think the camping was as good as it gets for camping. The hotels were fine.

Our guide, Williams Davalos, was very knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic.

The porters and cook on our trip were wonderful! I wish I spoke their language, because it would have been fun to get to know them better. The food on our trek was very good.

This trip was more than a vacation. It was truly an adventure. My two favorite times were seeing Machu Pichu--which far exceeded my expectations--and riding a horse on our Andes trek, when I was too exhausted to feel comfortable with the hiking. I loved the fact that we didn't see any other tourists on our trek and then we got to see gorgeous scenery that was a little different than what we saw at Machu Pichu. Although I had trouble sleeping 2 out of our 3 camping nights, waking up after the second night in such a beautiful and remote spot made it all worth it.

Eldra Jarvis (Galapagos Multisport, May 2008)
Sebastian was knowledgeable, sensitive to our interests, had a great sense of humor, and saw that every opportunity was taken to our advantage. He was patient with people, and took prodigious care of our welfare.

Some of the people were extremely personable. We saw the Captain that lived on Isabela playing marbles with the town children in the middle of their main street. He and his young son showed us the way to the soccer arena where my sons were invited to play with the locals in their after-work soccer(futbol)game. There cannot be enough said about Sebastian. I hope you can let these people know how much they added to our lives. We will send you our photos when we organize them. We took over 2,000 between us!

Christopher Jackway (Adventure Pacifica, May 2008)
Everyone was more than helpful. Any question was answered promptly and thoroughly. We nearly had to change our plans due to an injury before we left, and your staff worked tirelessly to get us accommodated. Luckily we were able to go with our original itinerary.

We liked the variety of accommodations, and every place seemed to fit nicely with the environment we were visiting. The food was excellent and the staff always went out of their way to help.

Our guide Clarence was phenomenal! When we take another tour we will request Clarence. He was knowledgeable and insightful. He was able to point out things of interest and add culture to any situation.

From the moment our driver picked us up, to the time he dropped us back at the airport we were impressed by the people, the culture, the food, the accommodations, and the thoroughness of the planning involved with our trip. It was flawless! My wife is a former travel agent and she continues to rave about the quality of planning and execution of our trip. It was her first time doing many of these things and even she can't stop talking about it. We will definitely be back and bringing friends!

Molly Delamarter (Manco Multisport, May 2008)
We felt very supported as we planned for this trip.

I was very impressed with the accommodations, even the tents, believe it or not, seemed very clean (and bug proof) and it was nice to feel as though things were well planned. Each of the places we stayed were very welcoming and prepared for us.

Our guide Juan Barrios went above and beyond. Starting off by telling us that he was, "our guide, our bodyguard, and our friend" made him instantly likeable, and then his experience made this trip look effortless from our standpoint.

The food was exceptional. The cooks were VERY professional, and we were continually surprised at the variety and wonderful flavors that they provided.

I have never traveled with a tour company before, and the things that surprised me the most were all of the special extras that we could not have anticipated. A short tour here or there that lent insight to the bigger picture as we approached Machu Picchu, the guide's personal thoughts and experiences having lived in the midst of an evolving story of the past, and the feeling of camaraderie as you experience the challenges of this type of high-altitude adventure with your fellow tour-mates. We had an absolute blast!

Susan Ziegler (Cachiccata Trek, May 2008)
I was extremely impressed with our leader, Wilbur. He was so experienced and knowledgeable and extremely well organized.

We really liked the alternative Inca Trail - the scenery was breathtaking and the guide was excellent.

Tuan Cheng Ch\'ng (Mundo Maya, May 2008)
Adventure Life staff were professional, prompt and thorough - it gave me a great impression leading towards the commencement of the trip.

We spent the most time with Hugo (Lemus), i.e. 5 days. He thoroughly impressed us with his professionalism, enthusiasm, intimate knowledge of Guatemala and sensitivity to our needs. Most so, I was struck by his sincere and warm want to introduce and share with us about his country.

I love the way Adventure Life immersed us fully in the Guatemala culture and life. Besides showing us the great Guatemalan tourist highlights, we got opportunities to get off the beaten track (and away from where the other tourists flocked). For example, we stayed with a traditional Mayan family in a village in the highlands and was able to more intimately understand their lifestyle and culture ... and we made a few wonderful friends!

Valerie Mulhern (Discover Panama, May 2008)
Great tour, well organized, with enough flexibility to make it our own.

I've done a ton of independent travel and am always a little concerns that a tour will feel constricted or not my style. This was a perfect blend of activities and fun. We had a tight time frame so the ease of having the excursions booked and transfers taken care of was terrific. The local hotels were so great with local charm and terrific staff.

Shane Erickson (Taste of Argentina and Iguazu Falls, Apr 2008)
The guide was excellent and made the trip even better. Great food, excellent regional wine ( I can not seem to find anything close in the US), I ate beef, goat, llama and loved it all. One location had beef that was so tender that you can cut it with a spoon. The people were so helpful and respectful.
