Cajas National ParkToday we descended about 9,000 ft as we headed west from Quito, to the northern coastal province of Esmeraldas, adjacent to Colombia. We joined Betty and Marcelo for a favorite weekend getaway of theirs to Atacames. I'm glad we took a private car, as Marcelo's little BMW got us there much faster than if we had taken a public bus from Quito that makes several stops along the way.
As Marcelo accurately stated, Atacames is like a \"moving party\" on the weekends. As we drove along the malecon, there were people flooding the streets, with music blasting from each direction and people of all ages dancing and preparing to party late into the night.
Adventure Life has been an extraordinary travel resource for us over the years and today was no exception. Our River Cruise booking was handled by Jess (who has been our personal trip planner for several years) the same day as our inquiry. Suggestions were given for cabin choice and pre-trip options (that were not shown on the cruise line's website) like airport transfers and prepaid gratuities. Trip insurance recommendations followed and we were assigned a travel co-ordinator till the end of the tour. All we have to do is show up! Great service from friendly folks.
